Dear Friends:
Please send the following proposal on to anyone you think will take
action to make it a reality -- friends, peace organizations, dissenting
politicians, civic leaders -- and encourage them to pass the idea on
as well. I am disseminating this as far as I can, and ask your help
in passing it as far as possible via e-mail, word of mouth, etc. We
can stop this madness that is taking over our nation, and return it
to hopefully saner hands this November. But the task will be difficult.
Hopefully, the proposal below will play a part in tossing the illegitimate
Bush administration out of the White House. Thank you for helping to
get this ball rolling.

Attn.: A proposal to organize a giant nationwide protest on Labor Day
Weekend
To: Move On
Vote to Impeach
True Majority
Environmental Defense
Planned Parenthood Action Network
Any organization or individuals
that oppose the Bush administration's policies
First of all, my sincere thank you to all of you for your unceasing
efforts to oppose the misguided actions of the disastrous Bush administration.
I support all of you, and wish you the greatest of success in your efforts.
Your work is worthwhile and very appreciated.
Tens of millions of Americans are mad as hell about the Bush administration
policies. We are losing our country, losing our democracy, losing our
freedoms and civil rights. The Bush Administration's greedy and inept
policies are ruining our economy, robbing the poor, and destroying Social
Security and Medicare. Our country's foreign policy is so arrogant and
aggressive that it is no longer paranoiac to think that the Bush Administration
could actually fumble the planet into World War III. We must rid our
government of the counterfeit, corrupt and dangerous Bush presidency.
Here is the idea:
Immediately following the Republican National Convention in early September
is Labor Day Weekend. The Republicans are seriously overplaying their
hand by scheduling the latest convention in their history in New York
to coincide with the third anniversary of 9-11. This exploitation is
outrageous, especially considering the Bush administration's broken
promises to the people of New York and their hampering and stonewalling
of the various 9-11 investigations. New Yorkers will be out on the streets
en mass to protest Bush and the Republican Party, and plans are already
underway for various protest activities.
There is an opportunity for a major, unprecedented nationwide protest
during Labor Day Weekend at every state capital and in all of the major
cities. These protests should be scheduled across the country on the
same day, either Sunday, September 5, or Monday, September 6. Tens of
millions of people should be encouraged to attend these rallies to protest
any of the misguided policies of the Bush administration. This would
constitute the largest single day of protest since the Vietnam War,
and perhaps the largest single day of protest in the history of humankind.
This would not only signal that the opposition to the Bush administration
is widespread and deep, but it would put a serious damper on any possible
"bounce" that Bush and the Republicans are hoping to receive
from their convention.
I have passed this idea on to all of the organizations listed above.
Please share this among yourselves, and pass it on to any other organizations
that are working to save America from this current wave of madness.
To be successful, this national day of protest must be a truly collaborative
effort, and I believe that you all have the resources, networks and
the mailing lists to make this a reality and a success.
I hope that you will discuss the Labor Day National Protest Day concept
among your organizations. Please let me know if this is something that
you feel would benefit the effort to free America and restore our democracy.
Thank you for your consideration.
